Spring/ Summer 2012 scarves, stoles and keffiehs are characterized by many new additions.

Firstly the colors. Grey in its hues of asphalt, blackboard or gull grey or the various hues of brown remain the basis for all arrangements, Pyaar’s real essence. At the same time there is space for a storm of intense colors, favoring two color ways: blue in all hues of the air and sky, and brick pink.
Even the sizes have changed: besides enwrapping stoles and ample scarves, it now has slimmer models. 60x180cms, narrower and slender offers new possibilities to create and reinvent, especially for men. Even lighter and softer fabrics: Pyaar’s textile accessories are created from a combination of natural fibers and innovative yarns. The core of the collection is lots of cotton scarves, silk and linen. Modal embeds itself on this ground giving it a soft natural feel. And lastly inserts in metallic fibers brighten up the scarves with flashes of quartz, gold and silver.
The final result are shaded fabrics at times faded with a worn out look; blank sheets to paint and color the various suggestions of the new collection.
BOUQUETS
An explosion of colors, shapes, smells of spring invade and transform the fabrics. It makes way to floral motifs, tiny daisies that deck up with cheerful simplicity, to macroprints of bouquets reminiscent of precious porcelain.
Nature entwines itself with variously inspired decorations. Paislies , a growing novelty in the collection, filled in with roses and countryside flowers becoming real flower beds.
Sinous lines of the arabesque accompany more jovial designs, inviting us to live our fashionable side with a hint of irony.
THE COLORS OF THE WIND
The essence of the summer breeze, that bring to life the etereal fabrics, colors itself and the Pyaars stoles in various shades of blue. From delicate porcelain blu to intense indigo blue, from blue avio to cobalt blue: the various hues entwine and chase each like waves in an ocean. A valuable color card that gives life to precious works of art, with amazing shades, water colors and colorful tonal creations.
PINK TEMPLES
Another color way of this collection is brick pink: the color of temples and cathedrals in India as well as many cities in the South of Italy. The lighter tones of giacarta and powder pink calm the intensity of peony red, in scarves and stoles that are discrete but seductive at the same time. Fabrics that come to life with the strong coral and goose beak tones and hints of ruby red and absolute pink.

A book about scarves

Scarves are made of a luxury fabric from an upscale boutique or simply cotton. A scarf is a workhorse - arguably the most versatile and economical between fashion textile accessories. The right one can instantly elevate a ho-hum outfit, unify disparate pairings, provide stylish modesty, serve as a political statement, add a touch of glamour or simply be utilitarian. Scarves can be used to get dressed quickly.

A book about scarves immortalizes the staple, beginning with a book cover embossed with scarves that is as beautiful and delightful as any of the ones inside. The book includes 257 illustrations, nearly all in color. Among the topics are styles of the eras, designers and artists, the great scarf companies, designer and historic scarves, and collectibles.

Among the latter are many that have been used for product, company and event branding, like my especially cherished silk scarf commemorating the play "The Color Purple," given to me by former co-workers.

The photos of pop culture icons such as Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn who used scarves to great advantage add inspiration. Noticeably not pictured (although mentioned in passing) are The Beatles, who helped cement scarves as a 20th century fashion statement.

A chapter on textile designers should prove enlightening for connoisseurs interested in collecting the work of particular designers. It struck me. I guess that's because we don't often pause to think much about the textile designers and artists who conceive wild patterns and who pair odd color combinations, but it's their creativity that allows for versatility.

Bonuses are the guide to cotton scarves, advice on how to spot a fake, how to date vintage stoles, and tips on conservation and storage. For those of you who own a bazillion scarves and have them stuffed into a drawer - or, worse, a plastic bag - you'll feel compelled to do better as you're reminded that some scarves are so beautiful and so rare that they should be treated like paintings. Storing scarves in plastic can turn light colors and whites yellowish. Scarf tying is befuddling for many, which limits its use among some people who would otherwise wear them more. It's not that complex, depending on the style.

A collection of scarves is essential to a classic wardrobe. Include large and small squares, oblongs and wraps. Scarves are not just a fashion item or a practical choice for warmth; it is an icon.

Printed textiles

Never before has a volume of such lavishness been devoted to printed textiles, in particular stoles and scarves. Covering the past two centuries, during which the industrial revolution drastically altered textile manufacture, textile designs presents a dazzling, comprehensive selection of the colourful patterned fabrics used for clothing and interior decoration. These are presented by pattern and motif, in contrast to the chronological displays in most books and museums. The dates and countries of origin are supplied wherever known.

This visual encyclopaedia groups textiles by pattern under five headings: floral, geometric, conversational, ethnic, art movements and period styles. Because of the world-wide interest, this edition includes translations of all the pattern names, as well as brief general introductions to the book in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese.

Textile designs will be indispensable not only to fashion and decoration professionals, but will also be an inspiration to designers in the graphic and visual arts, a reference book for quilt makers and collectors, and a delight for all lovers of the beautiful.

The book of silk scarves tells the rich history of this remarkable material through five millennia, reproducing hundreds of fabrics, furnishings and garments from all parts of the world.

From ancient China, where the secret of reeling silkworm cocoons was first discovered, the narrative leads by the legendary silk routes to byzantium and the Islamic world, to Ottoman Turkey and India - and on to the Renaissance, and the baroque and rococo silks of western Christendom.

In modern times the fashion industry yields a wonderful array of designs,. At every stage, silk's status as the most prized fabric of all ensured that it drew the most creative talents of every period, from anonymous Chinese masters to the celebrated couturiers of France and Italy.

A dazzling selection of illustrations, many drawn from private collections, reveals silk's omnipresence in couture and decoration, scarves, embroidery and even painting. Complete with a detailed reference section that includes terms and technical processes, collecting and care, galleries and museums, and a bibliography, the book of silk scarves will appeal to anyone interested in history, fashion, beauty and textile accessories.

This beautifully illustrated book examines in detail the fascinating symbolism of the motifs and patterns that give life to these traditional textiles from around the world.

The global range is as remarkable as the variety of materials and motifs on display. Each textile – whether Chinese court insignia, Japanese kimono, Sumatran sarong, Turkish napkin, Ghanaian banner, Native American pouch or Peruvian Nasca textile, among others – bears its own distinctive designs.
