Cool winter: wool scarves

In this period of the year everyone needs of wool scarves. Market offers various hues, fabrics and designs. Winter stoles are an inevitable accessory for modern women, rendering a classy touch to the otherwise bland winter clothes. The stole is soon replacing the shawl because a stole gives protection from the cold weather, at the same time reveals the beauty.

A Pashmina stole is made from mountain goats fur. There are a variety of Pashmina stoles in various colors, designs and textures. Pashmina stoles are rich-looking, easy to wear and washable.

A stole is a intricate part of women's dressing. While traveling to work it makes a fashion statement and also servers to protect from with the cold winter waves, a stole enhances her modern appeal. Briefly, a scarf supplies the dual benefit of both shielding you against extreme weather conditions, as well as giving you that added sparkle. Another useful point about a scarf is that it can be made at home quite easily and is also not costly. Also silk scarves are beautifully soft and smooth with a natural sheen that really brings the colours to life. Available in a huge range of patterns and colours, silk scarves also make lovely gifts. Spring/ Summer 2012 scarves, stoles and keffiehs are characterized by many new additions.

Firstly the colors. Grey in its hues of asphalt, blackboard or gull grey or the various hues of brown remain the basis for all arrangements, Pyaar’s real essence. At the same time there is space for a storm of intense colors, favoring two color ways: blue in all hues of the air and sky, and brick pink.
Even the sizes have changed: besides enwrapping stoles and ample scarves, it now has slimmer models. 60x180cms, narrower and slender offers new possibilities to create and reinvent, especially for men. Even lighter and softer fabrics: Pyaar’s textile accessories are created from a combination of natural fibers and innovative yarns. The core of the collection is lots of cotton scarves, silk and linen. Modal embeds itself on this ground giving it a soft natural feel. And lastly inserts in metallic fibers brighten up the scarves with flashes of quartz, gold and silver.
The final result are shaded fabrics at times faded with a worn out look; blank sheets to paint and color the various suggestions of the new collection.
BOUQUETS
An explosion of colors, shapes, smells of spring invade and transform the fabrics. It makes way to floral motifs, tiny daisies that deck up with cheerful simplicity, to macroprints of bouquets reminiscent of precious porcelain.
Nature entwines itself with variously inspired decorations. Paislies , a growing novelty in the collection, filled in with roses and countryside flowers becoming real flower beds.
Sinous lines of the arabesque accompany more jovial designs, inviting us to live our fashionable side with a hint of irony.
THE COLORS OF THE WIND
The essence of the summer breeze, that bring to life the etereal fabrics, colors itself and the Pyaars stoles in various shades of blue. From delicate porcelain blu to intense indigo blue, from blue avio to cobalt blue: the various hues entwine and chase each like waves in an ocean. A valuable color card that gives life to precious works of art, with amazing shades, water colors and colorful tonal creations.
PINK TEMPLES
Another color way of this collection is brick pink: the color of temples and cathedrals in India as well as many cities in the South of Italy. The lighter tones of giacarta and powder pink calm the intensity of peony red, in scarves and stoles that are discrete but seductive at the same time. Fabrics that come to life with the strong coral and goose beak tones and hints of ruby red and absolute pink.

Printed textiles

Never before has a volume of such lavishness been devoted to printed textiles, in particular stoles and scarves. Covering the past two centuries, during which the industrial revolution drastically altered textile manufacture, textile designs presents a dazzling, comprehensive selection of the colourful patterned fabrics used for clothing and interior decoration. These are presented by pattern and motif, in contrast to the chronological displays in most books and museums. The dates and countries of origin are supplied wherever known.

This visual encyclopaedia groups textiles by pattern under five headings: floral, geometric, conversational, ethnic, art movements and period styles. Because of the world-wide interest, this edition includes translations of all the pattern names, as well as brief general introductions to the book in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese.

Textile designs will be indispensable not only to fashion and decoration professionals, but will also be an inspiration to designers in the graphic and visual arts, a reference book for quilt makers and collectors, and a delight for all lovers of the beautiful.

The book of silk scarves tells the rich history of this remarkable material through five millennia, reproducing hundreds of fabrics, furnishings and garments from all parts of the world.

From ancient China, where the secret of reeling silkworm cocoons was first discovered, the narrative leads by the legendary silk routes to byzantium and the Islamic world, to Ottoman Turkey and India - and on to the Renaissance, and the baroque and rococo silks of western Christendom.

In modern times the fashion industry yields a wonderful array of designs,. At every stage, silk's status as the most prized fabric of all ensured that it drew the most creative talents of every period, from anonymous Chinese masters to the celebrated couturiers of France and Italy.

A dazzling selection of illustrations, many drawn from private collections, reveals silk's omnipresence in couture and decoration, scarves, embroidery and even painting. Complete with a detailed reference section that includes terms and technical processes, collecting and care, galleries and museums, and a bibliography, the book of silk scarves will appeal to anyone interested in history, fashion, beauty and textile accessories.

This beautifully illustrated book examines in detail the fascinating symbolism of the motifs and patterns that give life to these traditional textiles from around the world.

The global range is as remarkable as the variety of materials and motifs on display. Each textile – whether Chinese court insignia, Japanese kimono, Sumatran sarong, Turkish napkin, Ghanaian banner, Native American pouch or Peruvian Nasca textile, among others – bears its own distinctive designs.

Books about scarves

Considering that pretty much every woman has at least two or three scarves in her closet there are surprisingly few books available on how to wear scarves, scarf history, and the designers who are famous for producing scarves. Most 'how to wear scarves' books date back to the 1980s or early 90s, and while many of the styles featured are fine, the photos can be painfully dated.

Most general fashion and costume books cover scarves in a single page, however the writer has come across two good books devoted solely to scarves. Both are well worth getting hold of. And as for books on scarf history, well there are a number of books on shawls (and Kashmir and paisley shawls in particularly) but very few indeed on the silk square, the icon of the 20th century.

Another area covered by numerous books is wrapping gifts with stoles - inspired by the Japanese and Korean traditions of using scarves and textile accessories for wrapping and carrying.

Indispensable accessories and sought-after collectors’ items, scarves were an important innovation in 20th-century fashion. From Art Deco through 1950s Hollywood, the Swinging Sixties and beyond, scarves have been represented in every major decorative arts movement over the past century and into the present one.

There is an illustrated compendium showcases the work of a wide range of international designers. Here are more than 250 cotton scarves, beautifully reproduced in colour and all specially photographed, and many never before seen in print.

Includes concise biographies of more than fifty scarf designers, retailers and manufacturers, and a resource guide provides expert advice on dating and conservation, museum collections, vintage fairs and specialist dealers. Indispensable accessories and sought-after collectors items, scarves were an important innovation of 20th-century fashion, and were at the height of their popularity in the 1940s and 1960s. This is the definitive work on scarves in the 20th century, featuring artists designs, important textile designers and designer brands, as well as the wider role of scarves in social history and advertising.

Another book is the fullest and most complete record ever published of fashion accessories throughout the 20th century. More than 2.000 meticulously detailed colour drawings, accompanied by thorough descriptions, reproduce all the century’s archetypal accessories, from the luxurious ostrich-feather and flower-bedecked hat of the Edwardian era to the devoré velvet scarf and ubiquitous trainer of the 1990s.

A reference section contains a comprehensive bibliography and a chart that shows at a glance how these textile accessories have evolved since 1900.

FASHION STOLES

Stoles were in fashion for almost a century, from 1780 until the 1870's. Around this time, millions of stoles were woven, embroidered, and also printed in Kashmir, India, Persia, the USA, Europe, Austria, England, Scotland, and of course, Paisley. It was the Kashmir stoles that captivated the imagination of fashionable women and European manufacturers were quick to respond by weaving or printing their own. Kashmir has long been famous for its paisley stoles. In the 18th century, they became so widely popular that merchants from around the world would come to Kashmir just to buy them. Antique-looking paisley-designed wool stoles have a distinct pattern used in construction of the jama, a type of coat worn by men. These stoles are woven on a tooji, which refers to the frame loom where they are woven. The weaver, along with an assistant, uses a talim or set of written instructions for weaving the shawls. This talim will indicate the color and the corresponding number of warp threads that must be covered. The master weaver will then throw the weft back and forth, after which he calls out the pattern or design based on the threads that are woven in. For cleaning paisley woolen stoles, dry cleaning is recommended. For hand washing, cold water must be used. After washing, wring drying is discouraged. They should simply be laid flat to dry. Hand painted, vibrant silk scarf designs add that extra touch of elegance to women’s casual and business attire. Luxurious silk scarves will supplement customers wardrobe with color, shine and originality.

Each silk scarf or silk wall hanging begins with the artist's original design transferred onto white, 100% silk fabric. Using the Serti silk painting technique, the design is then outlined with resist and painted with high quality, fiber reactive dyes, specially formulated for use on silk. Each piece is steam set to ensure brilliant, permanent colors.

The Serti (closing or fence) technique is the silk painting technique where designs are formed with water-based resists, which are applied to white silk scarves or yardage that has been pre-washed, dried and suspended on a frame. Once the resist has dried, it acts as a barrier for the silk dye, keeping the color within the outlined areas of the design and allowing you to achieve sharply defined borders. Without this barrier, the silk dye would flow into more of an abstract, undefined pattern. After the dye has been steam set, the clear resist is removed and a defining line the color of the original silk fabric remains.

The quilted silk wall hangings are machine stitched using a free motion technique and selected pieces are embellished with beads, crystals and sea shells. The silk scarves and silk wall hangings are available in a variety of design and color variations and at wholesale prices to licensed retailers and custom designs for the scarves are available.

In Hindi “pyaar“ means “love”: a word that is a melting pot of various passions, various spirits, each with its own distinguishing characteristics. The experience of the brand Pyaar revolves exactly around this symbolism of the word, where multiple professional expertise are used together in order to create textile accessories that represent the spirit of a new world without boundaries where cultures far and wide blend together.

Therefore, Pyaar is the creative expression of a positive experience of globalization created more that 20 years back. In fact the brand, that’s just a few seasons old, refers to RADIOAFRICA, which is part of GRUPPO TRIADE owned by Walter Magnano and based in Volvera on the outskirts of Turin. A young but experienced entrepreneur in the textile industry, Mr. Magnano manufactures, like many others in the Italian textile industry, for the most important clothing companies and brands Made in Italy but with one distinguishing factor: the curiosity to look beyond, to discover new limits, experiment innovative solutions, involving people from different worlds.

“I have never stood still - explains Walter Magnano- I have travelled all over the world exploring new places and different realities, which were very creative and used unique techniques for production. With the passing of time I realized that these different realities not necessarily needed to remain simple suppliers, but could participate actively in designing and creating new products each with a story of its own, a cultural syncretism that is not only a new frontier for creativity and productiveness but for all of us.

Mr.Magnano’s journeys abroad, especially those in India, kindled the idea of creating his own brand; a brand that could meld two different spirits : the Italian design and savoir faire, endowed with a deep knowledge of the product and market, and the technical and creative capacities of the Indian continent. Many Indians work with Mr. Magnano in his offices in Turin and he has very close contacts with his producers in India. This mutual exchange has given birth to very special creations that are to be discovered and appreciated.

Pyaar represents an accessory, the scarves, the stoles and its similars, common to all seasons and genders that easily complete different kinds of clothing, easy chic, soft, sophisticated but never too stiff nor too structured. Its not an article for fashion victims but for those who love fabrics, designs, the feel and want to create his very own look with good taste, joy, passion, in one word with Pyaar, with “love”, which is recognizable from its trade mark, a small metallic heart on one corner of the scarf.
